Just check Google again. It helps, for the sake of it.

Clickbait sites spewing numbers means nothing. 1 place cites a number with nothing to back it up then other sites take notice and spew the same thing. Then suddenly its set in stone that this is what it cost and Lisa Su herself sent them an itemised list of components and prices. I'm pretty sure wccftech was one of the first to spout this number, so that says it all.

This is what a lot of people don't get, What you or I can get/see prices at will be very different to what they pay.

Exactly, people can look up the pricing of hbm and see it costs x amount and then for some reason assume that this is what amd pays. Amd will be buying tens of thousand of hbm modules so they will cost significantly less than the supposed numbers people are finding knocking around. And the same thing goes for just about every component on the board.

This is a big problem with the Internet, People read questionable leaks they find on more than one site & immediately take them to be facts because more than one site is reporting it, the problem with that is that a lot of these so called news outlets use the same sources we do, other online news outlets, People make educated guesses, I think that's what the majority of so called leaks are, educated guesses, Most of the time they're not genuine leaks they're fake news that gets given credence by untrustworthy sites like WCCFTech who will use anything to get clicks on a slow news day.

It's the same with tech forums in general, all these "leaks" about products get taken as fact, then if something doesn't live up to the overinflated forum hype its a disappointment. People are so desperate for info about products that they take anything they find as fact.

AMD making a loss on the R7? Nah. It's clearly pure profit if those GPU packages truly were destined for the bin in the first place :p

They might of been, I thought so at first but seeing as they have exactly the same stats as an MI50 chances are they're not, Personally i think it might be more of a case of having more markets giving more sales, Of course there's also the possibility that they were destined for the bin due to failing something they test for after the final phase of the module's construction, but at the end of the day it's anyones guess.

That's pretty sad as it gives credence to the theory that when people have the ability to gather en masse the group IQ goes lower the more of them there are.

I have high hopes for this card, was thinking about upgrading my 1070 to 2080, but this seems interesting. If the price is around the same as 2080 it will be interesting to see if the performance is on pair.

You are wrong.
Question: When the MI50 / MI60 cards that are sold for $8,000 to $10,000, how much would you expect the production cost to be? Don't say $400 because you will be as much fake as the ones who you accuse of being fake.

The BOM is clear and it is:

16 GB HBM2 = $320
Packaging = $100
Cooler and PCB = $75
The rest of the cost is split between TSMC 7nm manufacturing cost and AMD's engineering bill to make the card.

Just accept it and stay quiet :D

And there he goes again, unable to grasp the concept that companies ordering in bulk aren't going to pay the listed prices. Think its you that needs to stay quiet until you get a clue about how these things work.
