My lapped Q6600 idles at 49°C in a P182 with all fans on low using a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme fully lapped to get rid of the BS bulge. Some time ago I bought the Swiftech 120 Compact WC kit. This was not only noisy but didn't make the CPU run any cooler. Based on the fact the pump in the 120 Compact kit is supposed to be decent I figured I would cap off the bottom and mount it on rubber isolators and buy an Apogee decendant CPU WC block and a triple rad. Can I mount the radiator flat on the top of the case and use a seperate reservoir inside the case? Because the reservoir would be lower than the rad I wondered if I would end up with issues. I thought that if this plan fails I can always buy a better pump etc later on.

Thanks

Oh my Q6600 is running stock speed and at 1.325v. My CPU is a rubbish overclocker. I have a bad B3 :(

You certainly can lay the rad flat in the top of the case and have the res situated lower in the case.

Many of us (myself included) do so without any issues, tho most of us suspend the rad inside the case rather than just laying it on top.
