Radiators on the blink

Well I have just swapped the rad out. I didn't drain too much out of the system as the rad was isolated by its valves. I got a couple of bowls and put them under the valves and the disconnected the rad.

Bejesus they take a lot of water, and the water coming out was black.

The new rad was connected and from the smaller filler tank in the loft, I hooked a hose up and added the x400 to the system. I shall run that through for a few weeks and then drain and add the x100 I have.

Still gonna get a plumber out at some stage so we can have pipe work changed for the other rad with the leak and also get the rad I've just fitted centred under the window.

I guess it was changed out to a double in the past and for some daft reason they didn't move it centre. Odd!

Its an open system, so the pressure will be normal.

The suggestions I made were for a closed system so I would ask the guys on diynot or other forum for advise.

The water in your system should be as clear as tap water, leaving it in this condition will cause problems in the future including blockages and damage to the boiler.

Yeah, I didnt think it was a good colour.

Gonna leave the x400 in the system for a month (did some reading else where) and then drain it from the rad with the drain tap on it by the front door, and then with that open, run some water through the system to flush it.

After all that, fill the system back up and with the x100 inhibitor.
