I was just surfing a few car websites, looking at the kinds of extras you can get for cars.

I was amazed at what bmw offer, one of which is night vision, which shows a black and white view of the road ahead.

Not sure what the tracking optional extras are all about though.

So what kind of optional extras have you seen in cars that are "cool"?

Mercedes actually offer nightvision on the new S Class.

Night vision in black and white? Night vision would be green.

I don't know what colour you see at night but I certainly see none :D

Toys are cool, TCS / ESP and all that junk just spoil things, if you can turn them fully off then fair enough :)

But toys like tv's / sat nav / electric everything are always nice to have :)

the only problem with all this aid stuff/gadgets is that the older the car gets, the more there is to go wrong with it and the more expensive it is to repair :p

I seem to recal 5th gear testing it and saying the night vison is not all that good.

As for cool extras, well there was a car that came out recently that supposedly parks itself, which would be very cool if it worked properly. I also think radar/laser guided cruse control is pretty cool, where the car automatically controls the speed depending on the speed of the car infront, and in the case of one of the mercs, will also do an emergency stop if required. Then theres the rear view cameras in nissans, and built in fridges in the octavia, and probably other cars too and the citroen vibrating seat.

green is normally used because the human eye can discern more shades of this colour then any other. Not sure why its black and white but its a waste of time at the moment from what Ive seen. They would have to overlay the information so what use is a seperate screen
