Radio 1 to be sold off under Conservatives?

Tempting but I'm still hoping that one day he will be crushed under the weight of his own ego and you won't even have to spend that cash. I'm sure a whipround could be organised if you don't win the lottery though....

As for the plan of selling off Radio 1, I remain to be convinced that it is a good one. Part of the appeal of the BBC is that it can cater to such a wide variety of listeners and by removing parts of it you then impact on the rest either directly or indirectly.
 
Must admit I wouldn't loose sleep over it going.

Every time I turn it on I hear tat. Years ago I could have put up with it but now it's just a rehash again and again.

The stupid Pub Quiz is just so ludricous. They have to repeat everything over and over again (i.e. question number 1, question number 1, etc) repeated by every member of the team. Does anyone find this entertaining in the slightest?

Scott Mills show is marginally better as, at least, it has more music on there, the no adverts is all well and good if you fill it with entertaining radio but it's just a pile of 'fillers'.

excellent idea. Its a load of dross and will be of MASSIVE value to a commercial enterprise. great value for the licence payer.
 
I listen to The Chris Moyles show everyday. It's funny. One of the few radio shows out there that makes me belly laugh more often than not.

And when I say The Chris Moyles show, I mean everyone involved, not just Chris Moyles.

Torys are silly and should be ignored. Rule of thumb these days.

And anyone who doesn't find it funny needs to lighten up a little. I think most people who dislike Radio 1 do so because LOL JEREMY CLARKSON DOESN'T LIKE IT!!1!11 WOGAN IS A LEGEND!!?111.
 
The only time I listen to Radio 1 is when I'm in the car. When I'm not in the car I don't listen to the radio at all because I have an mp3 player.

Radio is eventually going to fade out. Young people don't listen to the radio because of the presenters, they listen because of the music. With things like last.fm coming on phones now, and mp3 players becoming extremely cheap people would rather be guaranteed they can listen to things they want to.
 
I don't listen to it, and I'm young. I'd rather take to putting acid down my ears than listen to the "music" on Radio1. They repeat so much crap as well, and Zane Lowe bums every single band on there.
 
I think I'd kill myself if i had to listen to Wogan for more than a few minutes. Cant stand his voice at all.

I used to like radio 1 when it was Mark and Lard and then Chris moyles with grey haired Will and Comedy Dave.

Now i don't get up early enough to listen to Moyles but when i do its not the same as it was. Also don't really find Scot Mills that funny, although his show is ok.

Hate every other station though as its just adverts every 2 songs. Really lame adverts as well, with stupid cheesy voices. Then the really fast "terms and conditions apply" at the end of every one.

I used to love the John Peel show, and Jo Whiley was ok but there's nothing on radio 1 these days I'd want to listen to - mind you I'm no longer in their target age range so I doubt they'd be that bothered....
 
Usally listen to a combo of radio 1, and kerrang on the way to work in the morning. Radio 1 tend have a lot chat and get bored, and switch kerrang then switch back if they have good song on.
 
I used to like radio one but it's so **** now.

"Lets repeat this crappy greenday song and loads of other crap songs 50 million times durp durp durp"

I listen to heart fm if i bother with the radio. They play whats good, not what popular.
Oh and planet rock unless i'm in my car, because i don't have a dab radio in my car.

Therefore, i couldn't care less if radio one was sold to lithuania to play pornographic audio books about scat porn.

If they ditched Moyles I'd probably listen to it more, but I start my day with Wogan now (or even Radio 4) and never go near Radio 1 all day. Shame as the radio is on whenever I'm in the car, usually 5-6 hours a day in total.

Use to like Moyles too but just seems that every show he does is the same as the last.
