Radio won't accept keycode..

Just put a new battery in and lo and behold my luck kicked in. The car won't accept the keycode that is in the manual.

Im using this code as an example..

5642

Ok..

So I entered in 5642 as described in the user manual then pressed 5. Code wasn't accepted. Tried again, same again. Tried once more and it's locked me out for half an hour. Now is it possible it should be entered the opposite way  like 2465. This is baffling bloody annoyed as Im without radio but at least my car is back and running. The radio is the Ford 6000 , I'll only be trying once more as I don't want to kill the unit permenently which happens after 10 attempts.

If you have a mate in the motor trade he may be able to look up the correct code on the national security register, if the radio was ever changed, and whomever changed it did all the paperwork, the real code will be there.

I'm not sure if this is allowed but you may be able to approach say, your local ford dealer, with proof of ownership and they may be able to do it for you by the book.

I'm surprised ford don't have a system where the car remembers the code for any OEM radio it's been paired with. And sorts it out for you if the battery has been disconnected.

have you got removal keys? or a spare metal coathanger ;)

Pretty sure if you get it out you can get the code from the serial number with some easy findable software

I'll have a run down to Ford tommorow. Will ring up first as I aint paying for it. Apparantly If I take some ID down should be ok according to the user manual.
