RAF Coltishall

You should go to Duxford for one of the flying displays. I'm going to the Flying Legends in July so Ill put my 100-300 lens to good use. They put on an excellent display, a couple of years ago they had about a dozen Spitfires and three Hurricanes doing a scramble takeoff...Amazing!

Living in Norfolk I used to get A10s overhead all the time as a kid. As the GF is a bit of a plane spotter I'd have probably been dragged off to this if we wern't already going away for the weekend.

When I lived in Northants, we used to get the A-10's buzzing low over our house all the time. They were my favourite aircraft at the time. I guess they must have flown out of Alconbury which was the closest to us.

I remember them well ;) Totally different sound to anything else that flew

I used to want to be a pilot. Followed the Air Cadets with aim to become one but I lost a few friends within that and found it hard to continue. Other than that I am so fond of aircraft and would love a day out at an air display. If anyone knows when or if an A10 will ever fly in the Uk again I would love to know.

There's more than half a chance that there will be one or two on static display at one or both of the RIAT at Fairford or the Waddington air show this year. The only chance you're likely to get to see them flying is on arrivals & departure days for the two shows. I've no idea about Waddington but at RIAT there are enclosures at the ends of the runway where you can view on the non show days or you can get one of the sag git tickets that let you onto the airfield for arrivals and departures. That's where the photo I posted above came from.

I'm sure the A10 has flown at Fairford before hasn't it? :)

Just looked at the RIAT site, and it's a bit early to see the list, but there is an Osprey set to display, heh.

Everyone can see that :p Not a very substantional list yet though is it!

They need a few B1B's, they're always fun to hear when taking off!

Naah...

They want the Vulcan flying again by then.

It is set to fly in Q3-Q4 this year - but other than that I've got no idea. :(

Well...

I didn't go but someone I know did.

Apparently it wasn't the event they wanted.

Spitfire and Hurricane didn't fly - too windy.
Neither did the Eurofighter - went U/S
They couldn't even fly all the aircraft out - the Squadron Commanders own personal Jaguar went U/S at the end of the runway...

That'll fly out on Monday/Tuesday from what I've heard.

Oh well...another airfield closed. :(

Sea Harriers went out of service last week as well. :(
