No that is a photo from an incident back in May when they were caught spying on our military training exercise up in Scotland... Two Tornado fighters were scrambled to intercept them and give them a Top Gun-style two finger salut.

I would rather something along the lines of a F22 raptor.
Great plane but stupidly expensive and owners will be hesitant to put them in significant danger.

Eurofighter... 90% of the capability of the F22, more trim levels and upgrades available... and far far far cheaper. Owners won't have many second thoughts of flying one over, say, Baghdag a few years ago.

Has the F35 been released yet i thought it was still in the production stage .
I saw a full sized mock up of one the other week.
Should be a good plane, but boy does it look bland compared to the older aircraft. No character to it.
At least ours will have a Rolls Royce engine though!

C'mon Russia!! invade!! I wanna see some SU-27's
Should've just gone to Fairford last weekend.

You would've seen SU-30's (Not Ruskies tho') Tornado's and the Typhoon. ;)

Yeah but they don't have any Tomcats' to fly anymore.

At least the Vulcan's coming back soon. :p

I was at RAF Waddington recently and there was four (Indian I think) SU-30s doing training for about two weeks, very loud .

This kind of cat and mouse activity between Russian Bears and Nato fighters has been going on for years and years. Both before and after the end of the Cold War. There's a very good chance that it has absolutely nothing to do with the recent political posturing.

Any Mig 29 handtaken shots? :D
Not at Fairford, but here's one I took of the Mig 29 OVT that displayed at last years Farnborough airshow.

Very impressive display it was as well. :D

Of course they're going to use them, but only when needed. They're not in Iraq because all that's being done is air to ground strikes with no AA defence, which can be done by the previous generation aircraft.

If the F-22 was to be used in combat, it would have found, locked, and fired a missile before the enemy even knew what was happening.

Edit: And by request, taken at the Paris Airshow....

Russia are free to fly some Tu-95's or IL-76's over Leicester anytime they want, just give me some notice to get the camera & don't drop any bombs and its all good :D

Hell, the US are free to fly a B2 bomber over my area even if it means a bomb or two getting dropped.
