Hi all, ive noticed just how cheap these drives have become now and I have also started to run out of space on my 250gb SSD so I was thinking that i'd need to buy a new 512gb or higher spaced drive, but I was wondering if there are any downsides to using two SSD's in raid 0, as since these drives are so cheap now it'd be much cheaper for me to raid 0 the drives and hopefully notice nothing but positives and hopefully no negatives? thanks for the help! :)

The big negative of RAID 0 is the lack of data protection. If one drive fails you lose everything on both drives. If you have a RAID 0 array make sure you have a very good backup system in place because data loss is a very real possibility.

From most people that have done raid, you wont notice a difference when raiding over single SSD usage unless running benchmarks. Just stick with single SSD drives to be on the data safe side :)

I was thinking of doing this my self a few years back running in RAID mode. Like - Cromulent said there a big lack negative of the data protection.

In the end, I kept them both on there own. So 1 SSD, was for OS/Programmes etc The other SSD used it to install only games on that SSD. Then that way you don't have to worry about data problems / SSD failure as much, if in RAID it can kill/lose the all data on both drives.

If they are same SSD/Specs for reading/write specs, then you wont noticed the different any ways. Compared to if you had all your games just installed on a HDD, which you will notice the speed loading different times.

Hope this helps!
