Hello,

I have two 840 evos from Samsung. I remember there was an issues with these drives. Samsung released an update that helped but at the time it did not work with raid0.

Anyway this was about a year or more ago. Does anyone know if it's now possible to run two in raid without the slow speed issues?

(PS Do not want to discuss raid0 performance)

There was a problem with Evo 840s where you would lose performance on month+ old data. They released firmware to try and correct it, but it only partially corrects the problem and would normally re-appear again (after month+). To get round this they added an "extra" performance restoration within Samsung magic (Takes a while to run depending on amount of data, it only seems to "move"/rewrite the data anyway), but unfortunately Raid0 is not recognized in magic at all, so the function will not work.

I have Evos in Raid0, and to be honest, I have not noticed that much of a drop off in performance anyway, but to keep it all fresh I simply create an image onto another backup drive, wipe (secure erase or similar), update firmware if necessary and then restore (Doesnt really take long) back to the raid array, which seems to work too. Its an annoyance for sure though, and really would not recommend this setup (Not worth hassle really).
