If I have a backup image of an 80Gb raid 0 array, where the used space was only ~10Gb (so the *.tib would only be ~8Gb) - if a disk went down and I wanted to restore this backup image to the single remaining 40Gb drive (non-raided now) will it work?
I know you can clone to a smaller drive but can you restore an image to a smaller drive?
I'm not sure if Acronis will do this?

That's what I was thinking too.
So it would make sense (or would it?) to have the raid volume partitioned so that no partition is larger than a single physical drive in the array?
So my raided C: drive backup could be restored to a single disk from the array for disaster recovery purposes.

I have "restored" an Acronis Image of a RAID0 array onto an ordinary (non raid) single HDD without any problems, it was some time ago and can't remember the "finer" details, but it did work fine. :)
