RAID 0 On Mixed Drives?

Generally it's possible to run RAID0 across unmatched drives but the array will be twice the size of the smallest disk. The remaining space is usually unavailable but the Intel RAID controllers can do some fancy stuff with Matrix RAID which can allow you access to this space as a second volume.

Personally I'd stick with matched drives if at all possible.

Yes, you can raid them, but I don't think it'll work as you expect. Best you could hope for is a 60gb raid 0 volume and a 30gb jbod volume, where writing to the 30gb volume adversely affects the speed of the raid and vice versa.

You would be wiser to get a second identical drive, ideally flash both to the latest firmware, and raid zero those for a single 60gb volume.

edit: too slow...
