RAID 0 Problem - One drive missing from RAID

Hi All,

I'm hoping someone can help me with a RAID problem I'm having.

I had two 64gb SSD drive joined in RAID0 combination and working fine.

I just bought a new M/b, CPU, and Memory and wanted to try them to see if they were working. So installed them, booted up, everything went fine and got to windows. I then rebooted the PC as I wanted to vheck something else and then a message came up saying missing operating system.

WHen I looked then at the RAID configuration it now only has one drive in the RAID rather than two and the boo up say RAID 0 Failed.

SO I thought maybe it's new MB/CPU combination, so went back to ol hardware, tried to boot up and same message. One drive missing from RAID.

Went into the RAID controlle and thought with that I'd be able to reattach the missing drive, but ony options seem to be if I recreate RAID it will wipe both the drives. I would prefer not having to do that.

Does anyone now of a fix that will allow me to recover the RAID0 set up witht he 2 drives and get everything working again without a full re-install?

Hi Raven

The mb I was trying is a different mb totally so probably a different raid controller

RAID create on ASUS formula force
New M/B was a Gigabyte UD5

As the PC is now rebuilt with the old MB though it would be ok, but maybe the new raid controller did something to it.

I'll try your suggestion of making sure the HD's are in the orrect order as it is possible that I've put them into different SATA slots when I re-insterted the original MB again.

Tried swapping them over, no joy I'm afraid. Still gives a failed response in the RAID boot screen. Only difference is the order of the RAID drives.

If I was to install a new OS on a different drive totally, switch raid off in the bios and then put the two drives that were in raid in as normal hard drives, could I access the data on them?

Went for a rebuild in the end, but also used recuva to recover some of the files from the original raid structure.
