Hi all, recently decided to install a fresh copy of windows xp on my Raid 0 array but keep running into a weird problem, i have installed Raid 0 countless times, ive checked both of the drives with the western digital diagnosis tool and it has found no errors!

Anyway i am trying to set the cluster size and striping block to 16k its all fine in bios and the raid array but when i boot into windows on my old ide drive and check in disk management it keeps showing the array as 2 seperate disks, in the past it has always shown it as one and i proceed to format it with the desired cluster size but this time it just keeps showing them like this, heres some screenshots... any ideas?

You sure that you've got the correct NVidia chipset drivers installed in Windows?

The two SATA ports which have RAID disabled jump out but that must be a red herring - you wouldn't have been able to create the array without enabling RAID mode on the correct ports.

Which board are you using?

It is a DFI LanParty UT nForce 3 Ultra-D

I have 4 SATA ports on the motherboard, the raptors are on the SATA I ports, should i try moving them onto the SATA II ones?

weird, try right clicking where it says disk 1 and disk 2 in disk management and clicking initialise disk.

Well after the 100th reboot and clearing cmos it suddenly decided to see the raid array as one drive! *crosses fingers* all looks fine proceeding to install windows leaving file system intact! did NVIDIA just like skip supporting nForce 3 or something? because it has forever caused me problems

I did re-install the chipset drivers again just through device manager not using the setup, must have just been a dodgy install not to sure really, if i try to install the latest nForce 3 from NVIDIA it BSODs lol to anyone out there nForce 3 is **** :P

Hmm, u have to use a WinXP SP1 CD to install Raid 0 with a different cluster size right? im getting Disk Read Error after the first reboot, and its not the floppy disk.

New problem now  raid installed fine, into windows, proceed to install chipset drivers reboot and now i keep getting dis read error, the boot up priority is fine :@
