Is there any real world performance gains in raid 0?

Some people seem to think there's no great benefit from raid 0 outside of benchmarking.

Does windows boot faster? do games load quicker? Will it be fater day-day?

I know about the downside about failure, but i will buy another hd to regularly back up.

Thanks

You'll get faster read performance but you won't reduce access time etc which is where SSD's come into their own (~13ms vs sub ~1ms!).

In theory yes, but it all depends on the setup, bios, drive firmware and RAID drivers. I have had numerous problems with this in the past and got even worse performance on more that one occasion :-(
