I currently am considering Raid 0 on 2 ssds. Would this be equivalent performance to using a Revodrive? i have noticed that some ssd drives are now much cheaper and would considering this option over getting another Revodrive.. What do you people think about this? i am open to any suggestions. Since I already have a Few Corsair ssds i'm considering using these. Or maybe the Samsung 830 series drives. any suggestions would be very helpful to me!! ;)
I'm building a new system to do high-end audio and video editing on.

Jonathan do you want to use the drives for modding or it is for some other purpose ?

It all depends which RevoDrive your using as they vary greatly in speed. I also use RevoDrives in 2 of my PCs. The faster of the 2 is the 480 3 x 2 max iops. I also have another PC with 2 x C300s in Raid0 for normal everyday use this machine often feels the more responsive (possibly because it boots up in seconds and the Revodrives can take quite a while depending on the model).

If you just want out and out Read/Write speed the fastest Revodrives will easily beat 2 SSDs in Raid0 but the time it takes a RevoDrive to boot is poor.

In terms of access latency - virtually no difference in real world.

A PCI express card (revo) has a much higher theoretical data transfer rate than SATA so if regularly moving large files or uncompressed data streams is important then they make sense.

ok. I have a Revodrive3 - 120gb in one machine, yes it takes a while to boot up anyway but i'm not bothered by that. I'm thinking of my other machine especially now while ssds are now much cheaper.
I have an external usb3 drive I save to.

the revodrive takes longer to be detected and started in the bios due to it being pci-e as apposed to sata ports

Well we will see what happens!.. I have now ordered another Corsair3 120gb, it was this time last year I got the first Corsair3 120gb (found it here for £108.32, its now £70.82), so it's a bargain now! I know there are others.. Have got Vertex4-256gb in a 2.5 caddy for my Mbp-R.. Will Keep informed of progress..
On another note ... I'm just curious... Is it possible to RAID 2 Revodrives together? that would be an interesting topic to discuss!! let me know what you ppl think about that.. after all barring bootup procedure that would be the ultimate in speed..would it?

Well, I imagine you should be able to create a software RAID volume in Windows/Linux.

See here

I doubt you could use a hardware RAID solution as you'd have no way of connecting the drives to a RAID controller.
