Raid 0 SSD's worth it?

I'm trying to build a very high end PC and I'm wondering if it's worth it to get two SSD's to RAID 0 them. Is the performance of them going to get bottlenecked by equally high end parts? Or will I actually get the full benefits of them? Thanks in advance!

I was thinking of doing a RAID 0 setup of 2 512GB SSD's so I was thinking those would be large enough for anything I want to run fast and the rest of my data on HDD's. I really want to make sure I'm not getting bottlenecked on anything silly like storage.
 
What are you going to be using the PC for?

I am still using a 120gb SSD which I put most used programs on, games go on a mechanical drive.
 
Real world performance, you're looking at a 1-2 second difference in loading up the most demanding of apps and games. It really really isn't worth it.
 
i did RAID 0 ssd's and its more risk and pain than its worth.

too many risks with it

RAID array drops for god knows why

1 drive fails everything is gone.

In real world you don't notice any difference at all.

Absolutely correct. I have done this, and it was a complete and utter waste of time - games loaded literally 1 or 2 seconds faster, and then you need to keep regular back ups of your drive in case one disk gets a problem

what these guys said, I didn't even notice any difference raid - sure in the past on mech drives it provided allot of advantages but now it just isn't worth the hassle.
 
I have just RAIDed two SSDs, and I can say with complete confidence that you are all wrong. It is most definitely worth it, I hit over 1gb/s with these drives. Furthermore the SSD twice the size was only £1 cheaper then two SDDs. As far as the reliability goes, that is not something you need to worry about, modern SSDs do not fail like they use to. Make sure you motherboard has an Intel RAID controller. If you can get one with six Sata 3 ports you can RAID more then two, if I were you I would get 4 840 Evos. And another thing RAID DOES support TRIM.
 
Agree with Dark Light. My 2 evo 250gb Raid0 are lightning fast and cheaper than a single 500gb when bought. Loss of data on an ssd failure a non issue with backups.

My M2. C: drive is even faster.

You hit 1Gb/s.. But what are you reading/writing that will actually utilize and benefit enough to be worth it?
