Hi all as per title really.

I have decided to setup a RAID 0 array using 112gb hard drives both the same etc.

I have had it formatting so far for about 1.5hours and its only 55% done.
I will add the drives do seem slow any way as I did a HDtune and got poor results I will post results here just for to show you.

Drives are WDC WD120JD-00GBB0

MAX=54.2mb/s
MIN=12.8mb/s
AVE=37.7mb/s

EDIT

I forgot to say I chose the Mirror RAID I think thats RAID 0 I had no option to set the cluster size for some reason maybe you dont in a RAID 0 setup?.

Thanks

Please any one its still only at 68% and I don't want to wait for it to finish to find out its crap is it really meant to take this long?.

It's not unusual for drives in RAID configuration to take a while to format, I remember how long it took a pair of 500 gig drives to do the same in RAID 0, I left my PC on over night for that !

It only just finished when I woke up.

Hahahaha damn that is a long time these are only 112gb but they seem slow even on there own but I am mainly testing for now.

All so I did not get an option to choose cluster size my mother board is Asus striker extreme with latest Bios I believe.

Damn think your right says in manual

RAID 0 (data striping damn it) time to stop format and start again?.

Please what should I do :(

Ah damn it thats why it takes ages to format says in manual

mirror what i chose it copys the same to both drives so I suppose it will take ages damn it what should I do cancel format ?

would all so explain why I had no option to set cluster size :(

How do I stop it formatting please dont tell me I have to wait?.

EDIT

To late hit reset button set it to Striping ow had option to choose cluster size i set it to 32 as I play games and its only for ARMA2 realy :).

Hahaha no worries like I said I have stoped the RAID1 (mirror) and restarted it as

RAID0 stripping I hope its right this time good news it its at 69% all ready :O

Did you not check quick format? If you don't it does chkdsk (and writes zero's on Vista onwards) so it can take a while.

Your RAID array will be slower than any single modern disk, even 5400rpm ones.

OK ffs urgent help needed please

I have got into windows and go to install MB drivers.
It comes up with do you want to install Nvidia drivers for SATA,RAID instead of using windows ones I said yes did restart now I get boot disk failure ffs I had this before thats why i never use the nvidia ones but thought I should do to see if I get more speed.

What can I do or do I have to format yet again :(

Please help urgent

Ah ok thanks well will still be better than just one of the drives for now hahahaha.

Any idea how to fix problem above :(

EDIT

OK I can boot up from me none RAID drive and get option to boot into raid or none raid hard drive but if I set Raid disks to boot up in bios first i get boot disk failure.

Ok did a test and I get this

short test
