well I can safely say - for those wondering - that I recently did a re-install due to running out of hard disk space from my Raptor X to RAID 0'd 2x 500gb AAKS's - and found the RAID 0 setup far more sluggish than the Raptor.

Just felt laggy to be honest - wheras the Raptor feels so snappy.

so have kept one of the AAKS's for storage (photos etc) - and selling the other.

So for anyone else deciding between the 2 - go for a Raptor :)

Mark.

I try RAID a few times a year, each time hoping that it will actually feel / perform faster than usual SATA... like so many people have claimed.

That day has not yet come in many years.

Affordable RAID = Pointless.

Interesting to note that RAID was SLOWER when you tried it. Never had that before...

You loose out on seek time using RAID 0 but gain in transfer speeds so I would expect it to seem laggy compared to a raptor. Have you diasbled AAM accoustic management on the AAKS drives? You need to use Hitachi Feature Tool.
