You dont need to have identical drives with RAID 1. Some might say its better to have two different brand of drives because it gives you less of a chance they will both fail at the same time.
The only time I wouldn't recommend doing this is if one drive was really old (and thus being really slow compared to a new drive).
Ideally you'd have identical drives running the same firmware version, but it should work with any similar drives.
One problem you may get is that 1TB drives from two different manufacturers may actually be slightly different sizes. Even drives of the same model can have slightly different sizes due to firmware differences.
If the second drive you're adding is at least as big as the first you shouldn’t have a problem. If it’s even slightly smaller you may find that you can’t create the array without losing the existing data.
