Hi,
I know there are a few threads knocking about but I didn't want to hijack.
I'm a total n00b when it comes to RAID so please bear with me.
I've got 2 x 2TB Samsung F4 EcoGreen drives and an IcyBox IB-RD3262 enclosure.
This is a replacement for a previous 1.5TB Seagate external HDD which failed. I want to mirror the drives as it's going to be a back up of all my pictures, music, files, video, films, TV etc.
I recently brought a MacBook Pro and I will be 'Time Machining' to this external RAID enclosure. I'd like to have a seperate 3-400GB partition on here to TM to.
My questions:
Does each drive need to be formatted & partitioned seperately before being put in the enclosure/in to RAID1?
Could I RAID1 them both and then any formatting/partitioning that I do to one will happen to the other? (I think this is unlikely?)
In keeping with my first and second question would any extra partitioning or formatting require me to work on each drive seperately before 're' raiding them?
Is there anything else you think I should know that might be helpful?
Thanks
BennyC
