for any reasons, i move one of the hard drive out and plug in different PC (slave), will i be able to see the files? even the disks is volume, not basic

thanks

im a bit confused what you are asking, do you mean if you take one of the RAID drive out and plug it into another machine as a slave will you be able to see the files on it ?

i take it you're talking about PATA drives ?

I know you can do this with Windows software mirrored volumes but I'm not sure about hardware RAID1. All logic suggests that you should be able to but since when have RAID and logic gone hand in hand.

The joy of RAID1 is that you could actually try it and then rebuild back onto the removed disk afterwards.

correct

SATA and PATA

As rpstewart says, software should do this (I have actually done this myself on Sil 3132 and nF4 nVRAID and it does indeed work). Hardware RAID is different as usually the boot sector is written with RAID array information - but this can be cleared so I don't see why not necessarily...

if its a different MOBO/Raid controller chances are it wont work, if you need to move disks around use Software but beware of the performance over head.
