Hi, I already have Windows 10 installed on a nvme drive with AHCI enabled. I want to add two identical ssd's in raid 1. If I enable raid 1, will I have to reinstall Windows?

Hi maklabouhel,

In short - No.

Assuming that you are wanting to set up your RAID array on SSDs attached to SATA ports - you will need to set the SATA ports to RAID. Then you'll need to invoke the RAID configuration capability during the BIOS start up cycle to build your RAID 1 array.

Booting from your NVMe drive will not be affected.

p.s. An NVMe drive cant be set to AHCI (if that's what you meant); NVMe is a modern alternative to AHCI designed specifically for solid state storage.

I suspected that wasn't what you meant :)

The single SATA drive can quite happily sit in a SATA port set to RAID. I would also install Intel Rapid Storage technology (whichever version is listed for your mobo)
