Right, I'm currently running a onboard RAID setup and contemplating changing it

FYI, my setup is in my signature.

I'm going to do a clean install of my OS because its become very bloated and a clean install is long overdue!

I have 4 x 320Gb SATA II Seagate 7200.10's and a Asus P5W Deluxe

I'm considering going from RAID 5 to RAID 10 but I would like to hear about people's experiences with performance and reliability as I've never used it.

Is the performance and redundancy worth the loss in capacity?

With an onboard controller in a word YES. The whole thing doesn't get bogged down in Parity checks and unexpected loss of power doesn't bork the whole array.
