Hey guys,

My RAID alarm went off last night and it looks my one of the disks in it has kicked the bucket.

I bought 4x Western Digital 750GB hdds last year from OcUK and ideally id like to replace it with the same model but they don't seem to stock it any more.

The closest I can find is a samsung one of the same advertised size:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-054-SA&groupid=701&catid=14&subcat=940

Do you reckon this will be okay? I say advertised size because i know real size varies and if i end up getting a drive smaller than the other 3 i will lose data right?

would i be better off getting a http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-053-SA&groupid=701&catid=14&subcat=1279 instead, the 1TB model - I realise i can't expand the size of my array but is it the safest option? (its also a only a tenner difference and it would be nice to have a 1tb drive instead of 750gb if i ever dismantle the array)

I'm happy that all my alarms went off as this is the first time i had a raid failure but I just want to tread lightly now whille im in the "raid 5 danger zone"
