raid and 2 x hard drives

if I am looking at installing 2 sata hard drives, do I need a raid card

as in not striping or whatever they call it, one will be for data and one for programs,

I know you dont use jumpers for master and slaves, but am not sure if I need a raid card to do master slave type configuration in sata

If you want to use Sata hdds without raid, you dont need anything but mobo that has Sata ports

ah I did not know that

thought sata had to be used with raid

so how would the mobo or windows know which one was which

Plug your boot disc into SATA port 1 load windows, then shut down and plug your 2nd hard drive into SATA port 2, When windows loads go into admin tools and use the storge device manager to format your 2nd hard drive.
Windows will then give this a drive letter and show up on my computer.
