If I install OS to a single drive and make an image would I then be able to place this image onto a RAID0 drive or will Acronis only allow same>same?

Should be alright. I know business / enterprise level products offer restore independent of hardware, but not too sure with True Image (im assuming) Home.

Id try and test it out if possible, or ask Acronis support.

works fine each time i've done it.. more successful i reckon if it's the same controller..

ie ICH9R -> ICH9R

well setup RAID0 on 2 320F1s...
Rebooted witht he TRue Image disc in...

Acronis has not detected any HDDs.
Error E000101F4

Using Version 8 Build 774

Will this work or do I need another tool?

Alternatively, make a Windows PE disk, where you can build a WinXP-based boot disk (or Vista I believe) with the latest drivers. Much like a Linux Live CD.

Programs such as Bart PE, and Reatogo (essentially another GUI for Bart PE adding more options) help in the process.

There's a nice guide here.

Acronis plugins can be found here, though you have to pay a couple of quid to get them.

All makes the job of making such a disk much easier.

sounds like you've got a pirated old version.

buy the newest one £25 is nothing considering what it does for you

Hi Devine Wind, could you tell me how you restored the raid drive please, as each time i tried to restore a backup, the restore would not work, because Acronis needs to reboot, then the drivers are no longer installed. I am using a registered version of Acronis Home 11 latest level.
I have a dual boot system, WinXP and Vista, and had decided to raid two drives and install Vista onto it. I took an image of the existing Vist drive, converted the drives to raid with a format, then attempted to restore, a dozen times, but eventually built up a new Vista system.
Is it possible it will now restore if I take a backup of the newly built system. I did ask on this forum but was told Acronis will not work unles you get the server version, a question sent to Acronis was aknowledged but not answered.
Any advice much appreciated.

There is Universal Restore, which allows you to add drivers to a restored drive or partition, but I believe it's only available for the Enterprise Server.
