RAID and Optical Drives

I currently have RAID 0 on my system and am ordering bits for my other SD37P2. I fancy a SATA DVDR/RW as the cables are smaller meaning more room for the W/C system.

Will XP install off SATA optical drives and will it all work with my RAID) or will it interfere with it?

BTW going to RAID1 the new SD37P2 with 2 WD 16mb 250gb SATA2 drives so will be nice to HDTACH them and compare with the Raptors.

XP will install OK if the SATA port is set up in single drive mode, you'll need to check if your board can support running 2 ports in RAID0 and another in single drive mode. I know NForce4 and some of the Intel ones can.

RAID1 performance is poor compared to RAID0, it's no different from single drives for read speed.
