Hi,
I don't really know much about raid so I've got a question.

I've read on here that joining two raptor 74gb's in raid 0 will massively increase the speed but also if one fails then everything is lost.

is it possible to put these two together but then add another, cheaper, hard drive of ~74gb in raid1 to back up the data? this way i'd get the speed benefits but if one raptor fails then the data is safe. i know that if i got a 80gb hard drive i'd only get 74gb out of it.

it is raid 5 which is known as raid 0 with parity.

Personally, RAID is a lot of hassle and epense for very little or no performance boost. There have been many articles 've read asking if RAID is worth it. Al of them have come back withno.

I had RAID-0 running for a while but saw no performance increase. In fact, it was slower.
