I am currently looking at a backup solution for my system (~500GB of stuff that I would rather not lose). Drive speed is probably not much of an issue (video editing etc, 7,200 should be fine?).
I was looking at:
Highpoint Rocket RAID 1640 4-channel SATA RAID 5 Host Adapter (CC-004-HP)
Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 NCQ 300GB ST3300831AS SATA 8MB Cache - OEM (HD-021-SE)
Running as a raid 5 device. What I would like to know is if this is a good idea (or if there is a better solution) and if I can buy say 3 drives now and then expand with a fourth later or whether all drives should be present at the start of the raiding.
