Hi,
Have a RAID0 set-up with 2 WDC 500GB SATA-II drives. Now this problem is an odd one.

The Intel (ICH10 I think) manager on start-up reports one hard drive as "Error Occured" while the other is fine. I've swapped the cable completley, and plugged the hard drive into a different port, and also switched the ports of the two hard drives. It is always the same hard drive with that error.

Do you reckon it is a faulty hard drive? I am going to try rebuilding the array later and see if that helps, but say it doesn't work, should I RMA the HD or could it be something else?

Cheeeers

I've had the same problem with both of my drives for around a year now. Both say 'Error Occured (0)' Next to them, I'm assuming the 0 is just because I use Raid 0 rather than an error code.

However, If I set the Mobo to load up without using raid, Both drives report to be fine. So its not a HDD failing sort of error.

Has your mobo got an option to 'turn off' raid?

Turning off RAID won't help him much if he's already got two drives in a RAID0 configuration, they'll become unreadable.

Exactly same thing happened to one of my Raptors in RAID0 recently, manager said "Error Occured(0)" and in Windows the event log was littered with "disk" errors.

Back up your stuff immediately!

So I've backed up. However I'm thinking. If I wack the "broken" drive in a working computer will I be able to run tests on it, or does the RAID array need to be deleted no matter what?

Cheers.
