Hi guys i use my pc for mostly games and video encoding , and soon photo editing

would there be any benifits to getting to 150gb raptors ? and running in raid , or should i just get one raptor and run as a singl e drive?

Two raptors in RAID 0 configuration will help lower loading times enormously for games/windows/large apps etc. However for sustained transfers they won't be as fast as say two larger 500GB AAKS drives in the same configuration. (I think that's right).

i hope you don't mind me posting this in your topic as I don't wanna make a new one for it :)

I just received a 80GB Raptor refurbished. Is this performance ok, I thought it was a bit low if I compare it to my other drives? Can I improve it?

Now that's not something you see everyday, WD doesn't sell 80Gb Raptors to the retail channel, they only went to a small number of system builders.

Anyway enough of the history lesson, the drive looks fine from that benchmark.

Ye, got it off the bay, refurbished :) I like unique items ;) anyway...

It does seem fine? I am a bit surprised about the burst rate because it is lower then the UDMA6 and SATA 150 and my other 250GB disks, that's surely not normal? Also the 7.8ms Ramdom Access, shouldn't this be lower? :)

Sorry I'm a bit new to raptors :)

The burst rates shown in grey are theoretical maximums, you won't get close to them (the Raptor is SATA150 btw).

If you take a look at the Benchmark thread (page 3 or so) the access time isn't dissimilar to others.
