Hi guys n gals,
I just received a Icy Box IB-RD3640SU3E2 RAID enclosure, however just noticed there is a separate model that is specifically called Icy Box IB-3640SU3 External 4-bay JBOD, which I think may work better for me as I think I'm leaning towards simple storage rather than RAID.
I have 2 disks atm, currently totally 7TB, and hopefully going to add another 4TB, so I'm not sure if RAID is best in my current situation (buy another 7TB worth of disk and mirror across?) or whether to just use an application and do full and incremental backups as JBOD.
My question is the RAID one I've bought mentions RAID 0, 1, 3, 5, 10 and SINGLE - What the heck is single? Is that another way of saying JBOD? I can't find any definitive answer on t'interweb so if anyone can shine any light on that, it would be great!
Secondly, I would be using USB 3.0, but it comes with Firewire and was wondering, if necessary further down the line, could I buy another enclosure and daisy chain?
I appreciate your help thankyou,
Mark
