RAID + Mobo Question!

Right so thinking of getting some sort of raid set up going on my K8NF9 (AMD NForce4x) motherboard and was wondering what happens to my array when I eventually get another motherboard + cpu comination ?

If it has a different chipset would it be okay moving it over? Or do i have to put it onto a different disk and make a new array?

Normally you'll only get away with moving a RAID0 array onto a new board if the chipset/controller are the same or very similar. There are a few threads about of folk moving from one Silicon Image controller to a newer one without problems. I would guess the same would hold true for Intel and Nvidia controllers but I'd be backing up first just in case.
