Hi Guys.
Can anyone help me out with my wife's sony vaio laptop, ar21m. This is running xp media. We want to set up raid on this machine. According to all the sony literature raid is loaded as default on this m/c. But I can't find it or access it or do anything with raid. I dont believe its enabled or loaded. I run raid on my tower system so I know a bit about it. We have purchased 2 seagate momentus 200gb drives, 16 mb cache, 7200rpm. Any idea how I raid them on this m/c. It seems to be a cut down bios with no mention of raid features.
Thanks a lot if anyone can help.

Are you sure that you can fit 2 drives to that machine without sacrificing the optical drive? If you can then fair enough but if you can't then (assuming we're talking RAID0 here) you won't be able to use the optical drive again without breaking the RAID array and losing all the data on the machine.

vaio raid

Hi thanks for replying, this m/c has space for 2 hdd s, both of which are now loaded in slots. Sony manual deliberatley mentions raid0 as default program, it states your supposed to access this as part of recovery process. No joy. The screen does not even appear for the raid function. I can do an f6 on install and it asks me for raid drivers software, but sonys recovery disc does not appear to be full xp media edition. The bios appears cut down and wont list raid in any way. It uses an intel chipset 945gm. I need to get it to recognise and set up raid. One momentus was setup last week and original fujitsu used as storage. Second identical momentus was setup today, fujitsu is now in icybox. Second drive is allocated as d basic drive. Any thoughts would be helpful, when I set raid up on my main tower it was simple. This is a pain
Thanks...
