RAID query

Just built a new machine as follows:

AMD Phenom II 550
Gigabyte MA770T-UD30 motherboard
Samsung F3 500Gb

And created a 100Gb partition for Win7 and a the remainder for data in case I ever need to re-install Windows.

I'm thinking now that I would be better off having one big partition and buying another Samsung F3 500Gb and having them in RAID.

What are the pros/cons of doing this ?

If one of the disks becomes faulty will Windows automatically boot off the other ?

For raid 1 it will, or should anyway, assuming that your raid controller is doing what it should be doing, not for raid 0.
