RAID question

I have got a WD 500 gig HD and I want to get another one to do a RAID setup.

Does it have to be the EXACT same model ??

Becasue I know it is a WD 500 gig Hd but I'm not sure of the exact model there are so many , and some are even the same price!

So could I get away with just getting another WD500 gig HD??

Yes, you can use different drives.

However, the performance will be limited to the slowest drive (bandwidth, latency etc).

However, it is usual and recommended to go for identical drives.

It shouldn't be too difficult to find out which WD 500GB HDD you have, PC Wizard will give it too you....
