If a motherboard supports RAID 0 and 1, does this mean that it automatically supports RAID 5?

The spec only mentions 0 and 1. There's nothing to suggest it does. It just seems odd that it doesn't.

The raid controller is a JMB363 on an Asus P5K

Thanks

I guess it depends, when you go into your RAID setup program see if the option is there - because sometimes it isn't. (Sorry if that's not too helpful, you're probably waiting for e.g. rpstewert or somebody else to step in :P).

Raid 5 is very different to Raid 0,1,0+1 or 10.
While i can understand a controller supporting all of these; there's nothing to suggest it would support raid5 unless it is stated.

No, if it's not explicitly stated then don't expect it to support it.

The other reason is that there are only two ports (one of which is external), all RAID modes other than 0 & 1 need more than 2 drives.
