Hi

I've ordered 2 sammy 64gb sdd drivers from overclocker which will hopefully arrive tomorrow. My motherboard is a gigabyte p35 ds4 (Intel ICH9R southbridge). I will be setting these up raid 0 on this controller. Will this controller support 2 raid sets ? I have 2 340gb sammy hdd that i want to raid to can i connect these 2 the same controller so I have 1 * 128gb raid set and 1* 640gb raid set. The board also has a gigabyte raid controller would it best to connect the normal hdd's to this controller ?

Thanks

Cheers for the Reply the Intel one it is then.

For a gaming machine what would you say is the best stripe set size to use ?

Thanks

For "general" usage, i.e. running as OS on, 32KB is the best stripe size I found, but if you have a (RAID0) volume to just run games from then 64KB may be better, but in saying that, there is no real noticeable performance gain in running games from a RAID0 volume as opposed to a single HDD running in IDE/AHCI mode.

There is only really noticeable performance increase in using RAID0 when you work with large (video/DVD) files or unzipping large files, if you don't do this kind of operation on a regular basis RAID0 is pointless.

If you are setting up 2 x SSDs on the ICH9R in RAID0, make sure you download and use the latest Intel drivers/software for it...

Thanks for that ill try 64K on the SSD's and try raid0 and AHCI mode on the normal hdd's as see what results i get.
