Hi all,

I'm about to create a RAID 0 with 2 X 500GB drives.
I know if I lose my data on either drive I am in trouble BUT what happens if I reinstall the operating system?

The RAID 0 is currently on two NON OS drives and is purely for data such as recorded TV, but if I reinstalled the OS on my other drive how will the new windows work to pick up the RAID 0?

Obviously wondering if putting these drives in a RAID 0 is worthwhile and looking about some future problems I might have.

Presumably you're talking about configuring raid in your MB bios. If you reinstall your OS on a non raid drive and the raid drives haven't been touched then it will work fine (assuming your OS has any raid drivers it needs installed). Your OS will see the two drives as a single 1TB drive. If one of the Raid 0 drives breaks, you will lose the data from both of them. Raid 0 is used to increase speed but with an increased risk of losing data. You probably don't need the extra speed if you're using them for recorded TV. I wouldn't bother with raid 0 in this case, instead use them as two separate drives.

hi thanks

so the new OS would automatically see the 2 drives as 1? I won't need to do anything?

I think I might just ditch the RAID0 then lol
