I am usually a SCSI man, so don't play with SATA RAID much. My mate has a "MSI K8N NEO-FSR V2 (Socket 754) Motherboard" and he has two WD SATA drives attached in Mirrored RAID.
We have had nothing but trouble from this.....
The current problem is: The two drives show up as the single 160GB drive as expected, but when using the nVidia RAID tool it refuses to rebuild the array. It always jams at 0.82% complete.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there something obvious I am missing? Before I pull this PC apart and reset it all to JBOD.
Last time we ran the WD Diag disks, both hard disks tested fine. (Though I am suspicious at these as the other Evesham PC killed it's WD HDDs due to bad cooling...)
A few noobie-ish questions:
1\ Any suggestions as to why the rebuild will not go past 0.82%? Any way I can force it? (for example, formatting the second drive clean again?)
2\ Is there a simple way of breaking the RAID and discarding it so I can return to JBOD? Or will I need to do a full reinstall?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
