Raid SATA 1 & SATA 2

Hi i am having some problems with my new RAID setup. When my hard drives are having to read or write data quickly it freezes for a few seconds. I think it might be becuase one is a SATA 1 drive and the other is a SATA 2 drive, and maybe one is sort of overtaking the other???

1st Drive : Seagate - ST3250823AS
2nd Drive : Maxtor - STM3250310AS

It's a bad idea to raid different brands/models of drives imo.

Yeah i was thinking of rebuying the one i already have see if that fixed it. Thanks for the quick reply. Also fo you know if you can use a program like Acronis True Image and restore a RAID drive just saves me backing up and reinstalling lots of software.
