Can one use a partition on a drive to form part of a RAID ? I have a 74GB Raptor and just got a 150GB one.....would be good to make a RAID between the 2, but wasteful of the remaining space on the 150GB one, hence thought of a partition.....

I am guessing this is a no, but figured I would ask.....?

Yes you can although only in certain circumstances.

The Intel Matrix RAID controllers will let you create arrays using only portions of each disk, you can then allocate the unused space to another partition. However doing this would mean a re-install.

Within Windows, if you have XP or one of the business or ultimate editions of Vista you can create a striped array of dynamic disks which is RAID0 in software. Unfortunately I don't think you can boot of one though.
