OK...ive had a copy of XP i got through my Uni ELMS student software thiong so its perfectly legal and i have the key written down.

Ive been installing on my old machine no problems for a couple of years using a XPLite disk i created from the original XP files. Now...my new machine had RAID0 and when i try to install XP the following happens

Intall....
Hit F6
Identify the Gigabyte DS3 RAID drivers
Windows recognised the 1 x 500gb RAID (2 x 250gb disks)
I format a 50gb partition
Starts installing windows
Fails as it cant find the jraid.sys drivers

Now this is the driver that is on the floppy disk...i dont know why it says it cannot find them.

Is this something to do with the XPLite install or is it another problem?

My other question is that there seems to be a Version 1 and version 2 of the DS3 mobo but i cant identify which mine is.
EDIT - i checked...they both seem to have the same raid drivers

Can anyone offer any advice?

Which ports are you using as there's two controllers, there's the chipset ones (Intel) and a pair of "Gigabyte RAID" (not sure who's chip).

You're best using the Intel ones (4 in line at the edge of the board) which should match the drivers you've got.

I have the installed in the gigabyte ones.

I followed the instructions in the manual and online on how to set up the RIAD initially using the RAID setup utility (Ctrl + G) at boot.

Is there a seperate way to set up using the Intel SATA slots?

Ill have a look on google now

Well...ive been through a bunch of searches and i found some people complaining about IDE CD drives and the Gigabyte RAID having probs so i defo want to go with.

I would really like it if anyone had the time to write quick and dirty step by step but i know this is a lot to ask so ill try and figure it out on my own...i want to learn this for the future.

So...

1 - Plug both drives in using the Intel Sata inputs
2 - i enable the Sata ports for RAID in the Bios
3 - I then boot the system with the xp disk in
4 - Hit F6 when the option appears
5 - Hit S then select drivers from floppy disk
6 - Windows should then see it as 1 big drive?

Anything else i should know?

so ive spent the past hour reading forums and stuff.

i hit F6 and install the appropriate driver caller jraid.sys from the floddy disk.

I then go through and windows recognized one drive that is 500gb. I create a separate partition of 50gb and then install windows. It formats the drive then says it cannot install windows because it cannot find jraid.sys.....the very one from the floppy that i installed not 2 mins earlier.

Driving me crazy this is!

Try doing what it says in the manual, get the intel drivers off the disc tbh and put them on a floppy disc. Intel raid controller is easier to setup to imo :).
