So I upgraded my CPU/mboard/memory today. I went from a MSI gaming 7 Z97 to a Gigabyte gaming 7 Z170 board.
I have running 3x Sandisk Extreme Pros (240gb x3) in RAID0. With everything backed up and macrium reflect boot USB on the standby I connected up the drives (same order as the first board SATA 1 --> SATA 1) to the new mboard having switched the BIOS to RAID.
All 3 drives detected and RAID 0 implemented on the new board without a hitch. Having read many stories that it is impossible to do...just thought I would share this, might be useful for someone.
I acknowledge that both boards probably have a similar if not the same RAID controller with Intel Rapid Storage tech but even then I was quite surprised by the ease of transition.
