Hi everyone, first post :)

Just bought two SEAGATES 320GB 7200.11 HD's....made a RAID0 setup.

Just did a HD TUNE utility test.

Transfer rate AVERAGE 179 ms
Access > 17.5
Burst rate > 85.5
CPU usage > 11.4%

That CPU usage seems a little high ??

Any HD experts out there ?? ..anyone with a RAID0 setup ??

Processor Intel Core 2 DUO E8500 @ 4.0 - EVGA nForce 680i (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 - Crucial 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-5300C3 667MHz Tenth Anniversary Dual Channel Kit (4-4-4-12-1T) - Asus TOP 260GTX - Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer - ViewSonic VX912 - Enermax 600 Watt - Windows XP Home Edition. and two SEAGATES 320GB 7200.11 in RAID0 setup.
Running at 4.0GHZ and Memory 889MHZ with 4-4-4-10-1T and 1:1 stable !!

It's maybe a hint high but not a lot, looking at the benchmark thread the normal usage for RAID0 tends to be 6-9%.

Is this a new OS install on the array? It may be doing other stuff in the background.

Wow thats fast :D

Yes, its a clean XP Home install.

And the other score, fine or bad ??

Thanks ;)

Hans.

PS, I also have two older SEAGATES running, 200GB and a 80GB...thats the problem ??

If you get CPU usage with RAID 0, does it affect speedstep any?

Sorry, can you explain a little more...I am not such an experts as you guys :)

Where to look if it affect speedstep.

Saw SPEEDSTEP is disabled in my BIOS ??

Thanks.

Hans ;)

Sorry my question wasnt really connected to the topic, just wondering as seeing how RAID 0 gives you a CPU usage, does it keep a CPU in the fastest state with speedstep enabled.

Can't enable it...there is a little cross in front (BIOS) ...its grey. can't change that setting at all.

But I wonder if those two SEAGATES 200GB and 80GB uses the extra CPU usage in the back ??

Hans ;)

Did a clean XP install.

Disconnected those two other SEAGATES 200GB and 80GB

CPU usage 7.8 % now...not bad :)

This is with the latest 15.24 Nforce driver.

Hans.
