I have a desktop with 3 hard drives.
1 for OS and 2 identical ones for data storage.
i want to run the 2 data drives in mirror mode,raid1.
my mobo is an asus p7p55lx.
The default configuration in the bios in storage configuration was ide(enhanced).i changed that to raid, and created the raid partition from the raid menu, but when my system restarted just before logging into windows, blue screen, and restart...
same happened to ahci mode.
If i return to ide mode it boots normally but without the mirror feature...
any ideas on what i am doing wrong???

You havent done any thing wrong.

But you will have to reinstall windows as you have changed the storage controller.
I've seen it done with a registry hack but that's normally IDE to ahci where the drivers are windows supplied ones. Not sure if you could pull the same stunt for raid

The other question though is why raid1. It's slower than a single drive and offers no benefit other than maintaining availability if one drive fails.

As RAID mode also enables AHCI that's likely why your system won't boot after switching to RAID mode.

Try the AHCI fix as it might save you having to reinstall Windows.

Boot in IDE mode.

Make the Registry change here.

Restart your PC and go straight into the BIOS and switch to RAID mode.

Hopefully you'll then be able to boot in RAID mode.
