Raiding different sized disks

Hi,

Is it possible to raid togethor two disks which are different sizes? For example a 40GB and a 200GB? This would be done by making a 40GB partition on each, and using the remaining space on the 200GB as a normal partition?

The RAID is created before the partitions are created. It is possible to do but both drives, in your example, would end up with a maximim capacity of 40 GiB.

EDIT: Unless you want a software RAID, methinks.

Yup software raid is the only way to do it if u want to be able to use the spare 160 on that 200.

with 2 disks like that the RAID wouldnt be that fast because the 40GB would be a fair bit slower and would bottle neck
