Silly season has started it seems :p

Renault team principal Eric Boullier confirmed that Raikkonen had approached the team - and is in contention for a seat alongside Robert Kubica in 2011.

"It is true that the summer has passed and we have had more and more requests - and the guy you mentioned [Raikkonen] is on the radar now," Boullier told AUTOSPORT.

"He is on the radar because he contacted us."

Would be good to have another WDC in the race..

He would be better placed trying to rebuild his reputation at Mercedes against Rosberg when MS walks.

I loved Raikkonen when he was interested but he hasn't been for years and even when he won the title only turned up for half the races. The loss of gadgets killed kimi, he had 3 good races a year when they went and could barely live with massa.

They should give someone else the seat because kimi would get pounded on by Kubica and it would be sad to watch him plodding about getting whupped again.

All can say is that he did look interested recently not that he wasn't actually interested. You nor anyone else has any insight whatsoever in what he actually felt.

He didn't look interested the year he won the championship. In 2008 he had a number of mechanical issues and failures, as well as being taken out by Hamilton in Canada. In 2009 the car was a dog but he performed well.

Can't see the problem really.

Each and every year he was at ferrari there was talk of getting rid of him. Even the year he won the title for the first half of the season he was crap. Kimi was a truely fast driver for most parts of his Mclaren career. He was very unlucky with reliability not to win atleast two titles with them. The one he won at ferrari paid back some of that luck. Alonso and hamilton were too busy comparing wangs and threw the title away.

Ferrari would have sacked Kimi earlier had it not cost them a small fortune.

Brawn never wanted him and is part of the reason he walked.

Kimi should never have left mclaren really.

Lol and hence never have won the title, at least Ferrari gave him an opportunity to win the title albeit at the expense of Mclaren :D:D

He is a driver with raw pace, he just doesn't apply himself most of the time. Would love to see him race against Rosberg but even in a Renault I think he would hold his own against Kubica.

Would be awesome if he came back! :)

He was the fastest guy around from his early Mclaren days to his late Ferrari days in F1.

would have easily won a championship or two with Mclaren had they been more reliable, Easily a match for Schumi/Alonso maybe even better at times during those days.

He has nothing to really gain though by coming back into F1, Renault will NOT be winning a championship anytime soon, Why would he need to come back?

He has all the money in the world, Driven for both Ferrari and Mclaren.
He's only going down from there, Pointless move if it indeed happens.

because hes never going to be as fast as the top drivers in WRC?

he might be doing alright but hes just a midfield driver in rally where in f1 he was always one of the top few

Hope he comes back. Love the guy. He's almost a modern day Hunt. Any driver who, 30 minutes before he has to get in the car for his first F1 race, is found asleep in the back of one of the team trucks, is awesome. :D

He was a great fit for McLaren, but Newey just couldn't build a reliable car for him. He should have had 2 titles during his time there. Off to Ferrari he went and really didn't fit in. Always looked uncomfortable there.

Who can forget his interview on the grid in Brazil with Martin. ;)

Deosnt deserve a decent seat - even one like Renault (which is a step/ 1/2 step behind leading trio) is too good for him. Would much prefer to see Kubica in there instead, and I cant see Kimi going much further back the grid

IF Brawn didnt want him at Ferrari, he wont go to Mercedes - so Sauber or Williams are his best bets after that and Im not sure either would want to try to afford him

Can't see it happening unless Renault buy back into the team. But I would love to see Kimi back in F1, my favourite driver of all time after Mansell.

Me and my brother were at Copse Corner in 2009 shouting for Kimi amonst all the Hamilton and Button fans. We even had a banner saying Lewis should have gone to Specsavers, after he ran into Kimi at the Canadian GP.

I read somewhere that Renault were keen to buy the team back at some point. I doubt Kimi will go there. The only team I can see him at, if he did return, would be to replace Webber at Red Bull.
