I bet you chatted, laughed and came out from experience having made some good chums.

I did spend the journey speaking to a blonde chick so it could have been worse.

I feel sorry for people spending thousands and doing that everyday.

It's not really going to affect me much as I only go to london infrequently. But a friend of mine is seeing his go up from £1400 / year to £3000 / year, due to them killing the zone 2-5 travel card. He now has to pay for zone 1 which he doesn't need.
